The story
Jamnalal Bajaj, a trader and close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, founded the group in 1926. A sugar mill in 1931 took it from trading into manufacturing.
After independence the group began selling and then making scooters. Under Rahul Bajaj, the Chetak scooter became a household name, and later the Pulsar made Bajaj a strong motorcycle brand.
In 2008 the group separated its vehicle and finance arms. Bajaj Auto reported an all-time high revenue of ₹58,732 crore in FY26 and sold more than 50 lakh vehicles.
