Section 01
Where do I start?
शुरुआत — 10 कदम
The road from zero to hero has 10 steps. For each one: why it matters, what to do, and what you will have in hand when the step is done.
- Beginning
Mindset · सोच
Is business right for me?
Business is not for everyone — and that is fine. First, ask yourself honest questions about money, time, family and risk.
What to do
- Can your household run for 18 months with no income from the business? That is the first question.
- Write down how much money you could lose and still sleep at night.
- Tell your family both the plan and what happens if it does not work.
In hand: A clear answer: Ready, Not yet, or A job is better.
- Beginning
Choose · चुनाव
Which business?
A good idea is one that fits your budget, location and skills — and whose customers you already know.
What to do
- Shortlist 3–5 businesses that match your budget, location and strengths
- Read the cost, margin and risk of each one
- Visit a running unit of each shortlisted business
In hand: One business, and two backups.
- Preparation
Research · शोध
Test the market
Customers before machines. Know who will buy, at what price, how much and when — and half the work is done.
What to do
- Talk to 10 possible buyers — ask about price and quantity
- Ask 3 suppliers where you can get raw material and at what rate
- Find out who your competitors are and at what price they sell
In hand: Customers, suppliers and prices — all three in writing.
- Preparation
Money plan · पैसे का हिसाब
How much money, and from where?
Most businesses close not because of a bad idea but because the cash runs out. Add up the project cost and working capital separately.
What to do
- Project cost: machines, premises, setup
- Working capital: 3–6 months of raw material, salaries and credit to buyers
- Break-even: how much you must sell to avoid a loss
In hand: A one-page project cost and means of finance.
- Paperwork
Entity · फ़र्म का प्रकार
Proprietorship, partnership, LLP or Pvt Ltd?
At the start, the simplest structure is enough. Change it when a partner, an investor or a large loan comes in.
What to do
- If you are on your own, starting as a proprietorship is common
- With a partner, use a written partnership deed or an LLP
- For investors or large scale, choose Private Limited
In hand: Firm name and structure decided.
- Paperwork
Register · पंजीकरण
Registration and compliance
Udyam, GST, FSSAI, trade licence — the right papers open the door to schemes, loans and large customers.
What to do
- Udyam registration (free, online)
- GST — depending on turnover and type of business
- Licences for your type of business: FSSAI, pollution NOC, fire, trade
In hand: Udyam certificate, GST and the licences you need.
- Money
Fund · पूँजी
Schemes, subsidies and bank loans
The right scheme can give you a subsidy of 15–35% or a loan without a guarantee — but only with the right file.
What to do
- Check eligibility: age, state, category, business type
- Prepare the DPR (project report) and loan file
- Prepare for the bank's questions: CIBIL, own contribution, collateral
In hand: Sanction letter.
- Launch
Set up · स्थापना
Premises, machines and people
Machine quotations, the power connection and your first workers — this is where delays happen, so keep a buffer in the budget.
What to do
- Machine quotations from 3 suppliers, and a cluster visit
- Apply for the power load and connection first
- Trial production and quality check
In hand: A running unit and your first goods.
- Launch
Sell · बिक्री
First sale
Every business is really about selling. Local, B2B, GeM, ONDC, online — start with one channel and make it work.
What to do
- Send your first goods to the 10 buyers from your research
- Pick one channel and give it 90 days
- Set a credit limit — cash is the real profit
In hand: Your first 10 steady customers.
- Growth
Scale · विस्तार
From zero to hero — growth and export
Once one unit runs, add a second, a new product, a new city or exports. Your network is the biggest asset here.
What to do
- Join associations and forums
- Get an IEC and take a small first export order
- Plan a second unit or a new product
In hand: Your next goal and a plan for it.
