The story
The Munjal brothers came to Ludhiana after Partition and started with bicycle parts. In 1956 they began Hero Cycles, building a wide network of small suppliers and dealers around it.
In 1984 they joined Honda to make motorcycles. The fuel-efficient Hero Honda bikes sold in huge numbers. When Honda left in 2011, the company became Hero MotoCorp and kept its lead.
The family later separated the businesses among its branches. Hero MotoCorp sold 64.69 lakh motorcycles and scooters in FY26 and earned record revenue of ₹46,830 crore.
