The story
Vineeta Singh was born in Anand, Gujarat, on 6 August 1983. She studied electrical engineering at IIT Madras and took an MBA at IIM Ahmedabad. She reportedly turned down a job offer worth Rs 1 crore a year to start her own business.
Her first startup, Quetzal Online (2007), offered recruitment and background checks with four other IIM Ahmedabad alumni. In 2012 she started Fab Bag, a monthly beauty subscription box.
In 2015, after those two ventures, she and her husband Kaushik Mukherjee launched SUGAR Cosmetics. It sold through Nykaa and Amazon from 2016, opened its first shop in Mumbai in 2018 and its first international store in Dubai in 2020.
