§1Who it is for

  • MSMEs and startups that can make spares, LRUs, sub-assemblies, components or raw materials now imported by DPSUs and the Services

Useful if

Precision engineering, electronics and materials MSMEs looking for specific defence import-substitution items

Do not spend time on it if

Firms expecting assured volumes without development work

§2Eligibility

  1. Indian industry registered on the SRIJAN portal; item-wise conditions set by the DPSU/SHQ that lists the item

§3Benefits

  • Visibility of items DPSUs/SHQs import or plan to indigenise, with specifications and business volume
  • Items on PILs are to be procured from Indian industry once indigenised; each item has an indicative timeline
  • More than 33,000 items offered for indigenisation by DPSUs and SHQs up to June 2026, including 5,012 items in the first five DPSU PILs (MoD statement, Aug 2026)

§4Norms — pattern of assistance

  1. SRIJAN is a non-transactional marketplace — you register interest; the DPSU then runs its own Make/indigenisation procedure
  2. DPSUs indigenise through their 'Make' procedure and in-house development, with industry (particularly MSMEs) participation

§5Documents

Not published

The guideline does not list the documents. Ask the portal or bank before you apply — we do not make up lists.

§6How to apply

  1. 1

    Register on srijandefence.gov.in

  2. 2

    Search items, express interest

  3. 3

Follow the listing DPSU/SHQ's Make or vendor-development process

§7Pros and cons

Merits

  • Ready list of import-substitution demand with item details — SRIJAN
  • PIL items carry an import-embargo timeline, so a developed item has an Indian-only buyer path — MoD statement 2026

Demerits

  • Expressing interest is not an order; each DPSU's own development, trials and vendor registration still apply — SRIJAN
  • Buyers are a handful of DPSUs and the Services — single-buyer risk
