The story
Ganga Bishan Agarwal, called 'Haldiram' at home, opened a small shop in Bikaner in 1937. He changed the family bhujia recipe to make it finer and crisper, and his bhujia became famous across the town.
Later generations took the name to Kolkata, Nagpur and Delhi, where different branches of the family built separate businesses. By the 1990s Haldiram's sold sweets, frozen foods and ran restaurants, and its packaged snacks reached shops across India and abroad.
In 2024 the NCLT approved the merger of the Delhi and Nagpur businesses into one company, Haldiram Snacks Food. In 2025 Singapore's Temasek agreed to buy a minority stake, which news reports put at about 10% for about US$1 billion.
