§1What this business is
Base oil, an emulsifier and DM (demineralised) water are heated and mixed in a blender tank, rested for an hour and filled. Spinning, texturising and twisting units apply 2–5% of this oil on synthetic, rayon and woollen yarn so it unwinds smoothly without static or breakage. A good oil does not splash and washes out easily.
Capacity: 100 litres an hour, 800 litres a day; year 1 at 50% = 96,000 litres.
§2Is it right for you?
Who it is for
Someone in or near a textile cluster (Surat, Bhiwandi, Panipat, Ludhiana, Tiruppur and others) with mill contacts.
Who it is not for
Someone far from textile mills.
Advantages
- Very small machinery cost
- Simple blending process
- Textile clusters use it every day
- Small team and space
Drawbacks
- Profit per litre is very thin
- Big chemical companies supply large mills
- Mills test and switch suppliers easily
- Working capital is several times the machinery cost
Skills you need
- Formulating oil blends
- Quality tests (emulsion, pick-up, static)
- Selling to spinning and texturising units
- Credit control
Why difficulty 2/5: Easy process and low capital; selling to mills on credit is the challenge.
§3Market
Who buys
- Spinning mills
- Texturising, crimping and twisting units for synthetic yarn
- Rayon and woollen yarn units
How it sells
- Direct supply to mills
- Textile chemical dealers in clusters
Good to know
- The report says buyers look for non-splashing oil, even pick-up on yarn and easy washing.
- Export buyers may ask for compliance with REACH and Oeko-Tex standards (report).

- Trademark for your brand (optional)
§6Schemes & subsidies
- PMEGPCentralActive15–35% subsidy
- MudraCentralActiveLoan up to ₹20 lakh, no collateral
- CGTMSECentralActiveNo collateral, up to ₹10 crore
The report shows PMEGP margin money at 25% of ₹3.20 L; MUDRA covers the working-capital limit.
§7Money
How the investment is worked out: Samadhan report: plant & machinery ₹2.95 L (mixer tank ₹2,00,000 and filling & packing machine ₹50,000, before GST), furniture ₹0.25 L, working capital ₹6.67 L = ₹9.87 L; no building cost.
Working capital: Working capital is most of the project (₹6.67 L); bank limit ₹6.00 L — mills buy on credit and stock is large next to the machinery.
Year not printed on the report — check current machinery prices.
§8Export potential
Confirm the HS code in the DGFT ITC(HS) lookup before you export
- HS codes are from the WCO HS 2022 list; confirm the 8-digit ITC(HS) line with DGFT or your customs broker.
- You need an Import Export Code (IEC) from DGFT before the first shipment.
§9Risks — where people fail
- Base-oil price changes
- Bad debts from mills
- Batch quality complaints
- Slowdown in textile clusters
