§1What this business is

Plain sheet glass bought from large glass makers is loaded, ground and cut to the customer's sizes, washed, edge-polished and notched or drilled, then heated in a toughening furnace and quickly cooled by air blowers. The glass becomes much stronger and breaks into small blunt pieces. It goes into doors, partitions, railings, shopfronts, furniture tops, vehicles and greenhouses.

Capacity: 48,000 sq m of toughened glass a year; sold at ₹850 a sq m.
