The story
The State Forest Department introduced rubber in Tripura in 1963, and it has since spread to more than a lakh growers. Tripura is now India's second largest natural rubber producer after Kerala. Almost all the rubber is processed into sheets, block rubber or latex concentrate, but very little is turned into finished products inside the state, which is why the state promotes rubber-based industry.
