§7Pros and cons

Merits

  • Revolving working capital without collateral, on a card.
  • Transaction data on the card can help the bank assess your future credit needs (Lok Sabha reply, Jan 2026, as reported by PIB).

Demerits

  • Slow uptake: about 12,398 cards against a 10 lakh first-year target, as of 20 Jul 2026 (as reported).
  • At least one bank (Indian Bank) gives it only to existing customers with 12 months' history, so new units are left out.
  • Borrower pays the CGTMSE premium (Indian Bank). The interest rate is not published.
