§7Pros and cons
Merits
- PIB (Dec 2025): production started for 55 products incl. LINACs, MRI, CT, mammography, C-arm, ultrasound; eligible sales ₹12,344.37 crore incl. ₹5,869.36 crore exports.
- 22 greenfield projects commissioned by Sep 2025 (PIB Dec 2025).
Demerits
- Flat 5% rate; Government said it will not move to a component-linked hybrid (Lok Sabha, Aug 2026).
- Low disbursal: ₹266.64 crore of ₹3,420 crore by March 2026.
- PLI pays only on incremental sales over a base year, so a new or small firm with no base-year sales or below the thresholds gets nothing (scheme design, PIB 2026).
