The story
Barauni became Bihar's industrial hub after the Indian Oil refinery was commissioned in the 1960s, followed by a fertiliser plant and a thermal power station. The revived urea complex under Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) restarted production in recent years. Small engineering units supply spares and services to these plants.
