The story
Ludhiana's auto-parts trade grew out of the same lathes and forging shops that served the bicycle and farm-machinery industries. Units around Focal Point and the industrial areas supply the replacement market across India, plus tractor makers and some vehicle companies. Many units make one kind of part in large volumes with family-run management. The cluster has formed a special purpose vehicle to set up a common facility centre.
