The story

Navalgund durries are woven by women of local Muslim families, a craft said to have come with weavers from Bijapur in the Adil Shahi period. The durries use bold geometric patterns, birds and animal motifs in bright cotton. Weaving is done on vertical looms at home. Navalgund Durries carry a GI tag.
