The story
Technopark was set up by the Kerala government in 1990 as India's first technology park, on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. It drew Indian and global IT firms with ready office space, a young English-speaking workforce and lower costs than the big metros. Firms specialising in travel, aviation and banking software grew here. Phase III and Phase IV (Technocity) are expanding the campus.
In numbers
Technopark recorded software exports of ₹14,575 crore in 2024-25, 10% growth over the previous year, with around 500 IT/ITeS companies and 80,000 direct jobs.
