Trade agreement

ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) →Vietnam is an ASEAN member, so the ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement applies. Claim lower duty with a preferential certificate of origin.

Their import rules

  • Product standards and conformity marking are set by Vietnam's National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality (TCVN standards).
  • Food, plant and animal products need health and quarantine clearance on arrival; check the latest SPS/TBT alerts for Vietnam on the Indian Trade Portal.
  • Customs clearance is handled under Vietnam's Ministry of Finance.

How to find buyers

  • Write to the commerce wing of the Embassy of India, Hanoi for buyer lists and trade enquiries.
  • Read the trade enquiries that Indian missions abroad send to the Indian Trade Portal.
  • List your products on the Indian Business Portal (FIEO) so foreign buyers can find you.
  • Join your export promotion council's buyer-seller meets and Market Access Scheme (MAS) events.
  • Visit or exhibit at the trade fairs listed below; ask your export promotion council about subsidised India pavilions.
