§5Questions and answers
Does a proprietorship need a registration like a company?
No. A proprietorship has no separate registration. Its identity comes from Udyam, GST (if needed) and a local licence.
What is the downside?
Liability is unlimited — business debts can reach your personal property. Once a partner or investor joins, an LLP or Pvt Ltd is better.
