How to start
- Get an Import Export Code (IEC) from DGFT online; it is free and linked to your PAN.
- Register with APEDA and get your RCMC (Registration-cum-Membership Certificate) through the DGFT e-RCMC system.
- Work through an APEDA-recognised packhouse with pre-cooling and cold chain; most exporters start with Gulf buyers who accept shorter shelf life.
- Register farmer fields on the APEDA traceability system before the season starts.

- GLOBALG.A.P. for supermarket buyers; irradiation or vapour-heat treatment where the importing country requires it
Watch out for

- Sea freight transit time and reefer container availability decide which markets you can reach.
