The story
Adityapur grew across the Kharkai river from Jamshedpur as the supplier base for Tata Motors' truck plant and Tata Steel. Hundreds of small and medium firms make forgings, castings, machined and pressed parts for commercial vehicles. It is one of eastern India's largest auto-component clusters.

The Adityapur auto components cluster had nearly 600 units, a turnover of Rs. 27.50 billion, exports of Rs. 3,800 crore and direct employment of 25,000.
