The story
Tribal families in Jharkhand's sal and arjun forests rear wild tussar silkworms, making the state India's leading tussar producer. Weavers in Kuchai and Bhagaiya turn the yarn into sarees and fabrics, several now GI-registered. The Central Tasar Research and Training Institute in Ranchi supports rearers with seed and training.
