The story
Hosur was developed by SIPCOT in the 1970s as an industrial town on the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border, close to Bengaluru. Ashok Leyland and Titan set up in the SIPCOT estate and TVS built its main two-wheeler plant here. Thousands of small engineering firms grew around these anchors. In recent years EV makers such as Ather, Ola Electric and Simple Energy have added new plants.
