The story
The Allahabad Surkha is a guava with red-blushed skin and pink flesh grown in orchards around Prayagraj and Kaushambi. It was among the earliest Indian fruits to receive a GI tag, in 2008. The fruit is sold fresh through mandis in North India and processed into jelly, pulp and juice.
