§8Why do business here — and why not

Merits

  • Thrust-area MSMEs can stack capital subsidy (30% P&M up to ₹50 lakh), 3% working-capital interest for 10 years and power reimbursement up to 50% for 5 years (IIPPM 2022 para 13).
  • After 5 years of operation units can get a second round: power subsidy 5 more years, 50% EPF/ESI and 20% wage subsidy (para 14).
  • SC/ST/women/PwD sole proprietors get extra 2.5% capital subsidy and full EMD exemption.

Demerits

  • Policy excludes large units and all non-thrust activities; large units only case to case (para 9).
  • 80% of employees must be local domiciles (para 9).
  • Units that took any similar central or other incentive are not eligible - stacking with UNNATI 2024-type central incentives is barred for similar items (para 9).
  • Gazette copy is a scanned document; no operational guidelines, claim forms or document lists found published.
