The story
Muzaffarnagar sits in the sugarcane belt of western Uttar Pradesh, and its jaggery market is one of the largest in the country. Small crushers (kolhus) around the district boil cane juice into gur during the crushing season, and traders sell it across India. Muzaffarnagar gur has a GI tag, and jaggery products are the district's ODOP product.
