The story
Pithampur grew as a state-developed industrial area in Dhar district, about an hour from Indore, with large plots on the Agra-Bombay road corridor. Vehicle makers came first, and gear, forging, casting and sheet-metal suppliers followed them into three industrial sectors and the nearby Kheda area. Today the belt mixes vehicles, construction equipment, steel processing, food and pharma units, and the state is building an Indore-Pithampur economic corridor to link it more tightly with Indore.
