The story
Central India's farm economy needs sacks for grain, soybean and fertiliser, pipes for irrigation and films for packing. Indore's plastic processors grew to serve that demand, buying polymer from petrochemical suppliers and selling to mandis, fertiliser firms and food processors across the region.
In numbers
The Indore plastic packaging cluster had about 135 units, a turnover of Rs 2,500 crore and direct employment of 11,000 (20,000 indirect).
