The story
Cheriyal scroll painting is a narrative art of the Nakashi family of painters, who made long painted scrolls for travelling storytellers. The scrolls tell stories from the Puranas and caste legends in bright red backgrounds with bold figures. Today artisans also make smaller panels, masks and dolls for buyers. Cheriyal Paintings carry a GI tag.
