The story

Gurugram's auto story began in 1983 when Maruti Udyog started making cars here with Suzuki, followed by Hero Honda's two-wheeler plant. Hundreds of vendor units came up nearby to supply parts just in time, and IMT Manesar was later developed for a second wave of plants. The belt now makes a large share of India's cars and two-wheelers. New car capacity is moving to Kharkhoda in Sonipat as Gurugram becomes more urban.
