The story
Ahmednagar's MIDC area grew as an overflow of the Pune auto belt, with land and labour cheaper than Pune and road links to Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad. Small and medium units make parts for vehicle makers and their large suppliers, and the town's sugar and dairy co-operatives also buy machinery locally.

The Auto & Engineering Cluster, Ahmednagar had 221 micro and 185 small units, a turnover of Rs 700 crore, exports of about Rs 80 crore and direct employment of 7,952.
