The story
Nizamabad and nearby districts have red and black soils and assured irrigation from the Sriram Sagar project, which suit turmeric. The Nizamabad agricultural market became one of India's main turmeric trading yards. Farmers long demanded a dedicated board for better prices and exports. The National Turmeric Board now has its headquarters in Nizamabad.
