What it is
Granules made by washing, shredding and re-melting used plastic (HDPE, PP, LDPE, PET). Cheaper than virgin resin; used for pipes, buckets, bags, crates and fibre.

Where imports come from
Mostly from domestic scrap. No official national production series was found.
Rules before you buy or sell
- Plastic waste processors and recyclers must register with the State Pollution Control Board and on the CPCB EPR portal under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended).
- Recycled plastic in food-contact packaging is allowed only under FSSAI conditions.
- Importing plastic scrap is regulated; check ITC(HS) policy and the Hazardous and Other Wastes Rules, 2016.
Storage and handling
Store dry and covered; check moisture and melt-flow before use.
