The story
The hills around Beawar have quartz and feldspar, and mills grind them into fine powder used by glass, ceramic, rubber and paint makers. Most of the powder is sent to factories outside Rajasthan, including Morbi's tile plants. Beawar also has foundries, handloom weaving and cement units.
In numbers
Beawar had 150 mineral grinding units (120 ball mills and 30 hammer mills) for quartz and feldspar, with 50 more planned; 85% of the ground mineral goes outside the state (state profile 2015-16).
