The story
Kagzi families settled in Sanganer centuries ago and made paper by hand from rags and pulp. The craft found new export markets as buyers looked for tree-free, handmade stationery. Sanganer also has a cluster of paper board makers and the Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute.
In numbers
Sanganer had around 13 handmade paper units, some 100% export-oriented, employing more than 700 people (state profile 2015-16).
