The story
Jaipur's blue pottery is made not from clay but from a dough of quartz powder, glass and other materials, painted in cobalt blue and fired at low heat. The craft came to Jaipur under royal patronage and was revived in the 20th century. Small workshops around Jaipur make tiles, bowls, vases and knobs for tourists and export.
