The story
The black cotton soils of Guntur and the Krishna delta suit chilli, and the district became India's main chilli growing area. The Guntur market yard grew into the country's largest chilli market, drawing traders and exporters from across India. Cold storages, grinding mills and oleoresin plants grew around it. Guntur Sannam chilli carries a GI tag.
