The story
Bhilwara's first spinning mill, Mewar Textile Mills, was set up in 1935, and more mills and weaving units followed after licensing was removed in the late 1980s. The district became known as 'Vastra Nagari', the textile city, for its synthetic and blended suiting. Spinning mills, modern shuttleless looms and process houses now sit close together.
