The story
Kota Doria is a light, airy fabric woven from cotton and silk in a square check pattern called khat. Weavers in Kaithoon and nearby villages work on pit looms at home. The fabric's GI tag protects it from powerloom copies.
In numbers
The Kota Doria cluster had 1,500 looms, Rs 35 crore turnover and 3,000 workers; about 10% of turnover is indirect export (district profile 2015-16).
